2000 Sonoma Valley Chardonnay
Sold out
Long recognized as one of California’s premier producers of Chardonnay, Matanzas Creek Winery has continued its tradition with the release of the 2000 vintage. Based on fruit from cool microclimates predominantly within Sonoma Valley, with a small amount of Russian River appellations, our 2000 Chardonnay exhibits the balance, structure and complexity that have been the winery’s hallmark for over twenty vintages.
Tasting Notes
Our 2000 Chardonnay is pale straw in color with bright highlights. Aromas of apricot, apple and pear are evident in the nose. Further layers of lemony citrus, mandarin and spicy vanilla add additional complexity. Nine months of barrel aging on the lees, with monthly stirring, produces a wine that is full bodied with a silken texture, buttery rich, yet cleanly crisp with well defined acidity. The 2000 Chardonnay has beautiful oak and fruit integration and a creamy, balanced finish. With proper bottle aging, this wine will continue to please for the next several years.
