Tasting Notes
This Syrah possesses a signature deep, dark plum color followed by a suite of aromas that
include black fruit, fresh leather and a touch of cedar. As noted by a Matanzas Creek Winery
Syrah aficionado, “If silk twill had an aroma, it would smell like this.” Lively blackberry and black
cherry flavors prevail, complemented by notes of cedar, similar to those found in the nose.
Acclaim
86 Points - "Thick and warm with the black smoke and graham cracker spice of oak, this syrah shows a little anise flavor with air. It may take more shape with time; for now, its a one-glass-at-a-time Philly cheesesteak wine." - Patrick J. Comiskey, Wine & Spirits, October 2005
85 Points - Robert M. Parker Jr., Wine Advocate, December 2005
85 Points - Wine Enthusiast, September 2005
Recommended - "A big wine at a not-so-big price, it has aromas and flavors of wheat, blackberry, plum, cherry, toast, licorice and spice, with a pleasant earthiness and velvety tannins." - San Francisco Chronicle, December 2005
