The 2007 Journey Red represents a true expression of Sonoma terroir. A blend of Bordeaux varietals sourced from our most profound winegrowing sites, this wine is rich and powerful, built to age but is equally enjoyable now.

Vibrant ruby in appearance, a bouquet of licorice, black currant and cedar wood are evident in the first swirl. As the wine opens, notes of dusty tannin and smoked herbs are joined by an underlying note of minerality for a long, powerful finish.

Our signature Bennett Valley Merlot is sourced from the terraced vineyards of the Jackson Park Ranch. Located 930-feet above Bennett Valley's floor, our 110 acre site is planted to clone 181, the Pétrus clone of Merlot. We also blended in 14% Cabernet Sauvignon from our mountain vineyards in Knights Valley, to add additional structure and a rich mouthfeel.

Sourced exclusively from our picturesque 110-acre vineyard, Jackson Park overlooks Matanzas Creek Winery from its location 930 feet above the valley floor. With its close proximity to the Pacific Ocean, Jackson Park is at the front line of the cooling effects of the Petaluma Wind Gap which brings marine winds and coastal fog into the valley. These conditions help to maintain the grapes' aromatic qualities, acidity and tannin structure.

Since 1977, Matanzas Creek Winery has been focused on creating balanced, elegant wines that are regarded as Sonoma County classics. The 2008 Bennett Valley Pinot Noir is a fine example of what can be achieved when artisan winemaking techniques are applied to the marvelous bounty of Mother Nature. 2008 marks our third vintage of Pinot Noir since the late 1970's. Our cool climate home in Bennett Valley provides ideal growing conditions for this fickle grape.

On appearance the 2007 Syrah is vivid and rich in color. The first nose unveils bright red fruit combined with spicy notes of nutmeg and cinnamon. On the palate, dark cherry and smoke mingle with the wine's soft and supple tannins to produce a round, well-constructed wine.

The nose of this Syrah immediately captivates you with bright red fruit, plums and blackberry. The fruit continues on the palate and smoke lingers on the finish due to a high level of basalt in the Bennett Valley soil. Pairs excellent with foods coming off the grill.
