Cabernet Sauvignon

2006 Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon

The Cabernet fruit for this wine is derived from Knights Valley located in Sonoma County East of Healdsburg. Knights Valley is a notoriously warm climate to grow Cabernet Sauvignon and 2006 was no different.

Scents of dark red fruits and licorice greet your nose and continue onto the palate where black and white pepper are added to the mix. A long finish and sturdy, yet elegant tannins allow for early drinking and the ability to age for 8-10 years or more.

Merlot

2006 Bennett Valley Merlot

In 2006 Mother Nature provided us with an Indian Summer, long and warm without much rain. This provided the perfect conditions for our sugar and acidity to be in sync. As the acidity in our fruit slowly declined the sugar content slowly rose - the ideal conditions every winemaker can only wish for. The vines were extra stressed in 2006 and this paid off with longer hang-time, more concentrated fruit and beautiful tannins.

With its close proximity to the Pacific Ocean, Jackson Park is at the front line of the cooling effects of the Petaluma Wind Gap which brings marine winds and coastal fog into the valley.
